'The Weakest Link' Will Return with Jane Lynch as Host
Early 2000s game show The Weakest Link is getting a reboot from NBC — and production is already being tentatively scheduled to begin later this year.

Actor Jane Lynch is set to appear as the series' new host, in place of its original host, Anne Robinson.

"I've been a longtime fan of this game-changing quiz show since it first debuted," Lynch said of the original series. "Each time the phrase 'You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye' passes my lips, it will be with great reverence and delight."

The show first aired in North America back in 2001, with its syndicated version running for just two seasons.

"Weakest Link became an instant fan-favourite when it first aired on our network, and we are excited to bring a fresh, new take to the timeless format," NBC reality programming president, Meredith Ahr, said in a statement.

The rebooted series will follow the same format as the original, with contestants answering trivia questions for money, and "weakest link" players getting voted out at each round.

So far, the network has yet to announce a firm release schedule, but has ordered 13 episodes for the reboot.
